A walk around Q Street
Yesterday I went for a neighborhood walk with some neighbors who live on and around the 400 block of Q Street, and Officer Culver from the MPD.
One thing a lot of the residents wanted to show to Officer Culver was the new batch of graffiti behind their houses. Sometime on last Sunday, a whole lot of graffiti appeared in the alley between Q Street and the Scott Montgomery grounds. I've seen a lot of graffiti around Shaw but this looks very different from the usual. I think that this is something that residents, and the school, should be very concerned about.

"Sur" is Spanish for South. What is the 13, and what are the three dots that we see in a lot of these?

Here it is translated into English, and the three dots again. Southside of what?

Does that say MS 13? That's not good.

The above picture is of a vacant property on the 400 block of Q. There is a spigot under the porch where, according to the neighbors, people come to wash themselves in the morning.

There was a lot of discussion about this building on the northwest corner of 5th and Q. It has a huge fig tree, and somebody appears to be cutting the grass, but it looks like it's been a very long time since anybody has opened the front door or the garage. What's going on with this place? It would be nice to have somebody living on this side of the corner, to make the undesirable elements feel a little less welcome.
