Ignoring Garbage Doesn't Make It Go Away

The February TreeBoxVodka/ANC2C02.org cleanup addressed the heart of what keeps Shaw from being more beautiful. These discarded bottles of alcohol were found on the Scott Montgomery Elementary School campus along with hundreds of empty crack bags (below).

Local liquor stores in Shaw are the likely sources of these discarded cans and bottles. Voluntary agreements are one way to cut down on the types of alcohol available to immediate consumption.

Vacant properties are locations that are also magnets for garbage.

At least this responsible dog owner was on hand to pick up an incredible amount of dog waste left by irresponsible pet owners on the school grounds of the Scott Montgomery School in a grassy area where students often play.

When even just a few neighbors join forces, they can get an incredible amount done in a short period of time.

Gilford liquor store at 5th St & Rhode Island Ave is only a few hundred yards from 512 Rhode Island. The property owner at 512 Rhode Island Ave is seeking a new alcohol license for Grapes & Hopes Market.
