There are a lot of DC residents, parents and stake holders in the District's public school system who are very concerned about Mayor Fenty and School Chancellor Rhee's plan to limit public hearings on the DCPS budget and change the way information about the budget was disclosed in the past as is still required by law [Section 4031 of the Budget Support Act] before the budget is presented to the DC Council. They Mayor's proposal seeks to put the budget approval process in line with that of other District agencies and increase the efficiency of the process.
