Final Fourth Watha T Daniel / Shaw Library Design meeting
UPDATE: There will be a fifth community meeting added to the library design series. See note from Commissioner Padro below.
6:30pm, Monday, June 23
Shaw Interim Library
945 Rhode Island Avenue, NW
Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper and staff from DCPL will host the final public meeting to discuss the latest designs for the Watha T. Daniel / Shaw Library. The design team from Davis, Brody, Bond Aedas will be on hand to take input and feedback from the public. DCPL would like to complete the design process and begin construction soon.
“While only four meetings were originally contemplated, a fifth meeting will be necessary due to the discovery of significant ground water on the site and the need to raise the basement slightly in order to accommodate that geotechnical consideration. These adjustments will not be presented at the fourth meeting, but the further elaboration of the interior and exterior of the building will be presented.
This is an opportunity for residents and other library users who have not registered their input into the design process to date to do so. Earlier versions of the design are on display at the interim branch library and online at DCLibrary.org”.
