Bill 17-800, the “City Market at O Street Tax Increment Financing Act of 2008”
Message from Roadside Development and Hearing Announcement:
After working through the winter and spring with Deputy Mayor Neil Albert and Councilmember Jack Evans on the CityMarket at O’s application for Tax Increment Financing for the construction of public infrastructure on the project, Councilmember Evans introduced the “CityMarket at O Street Tax Increment Financing Act of 2008” at the Council’s session on June 17 and then scheduled a public hearing on the bill for July 2 at 10 a.m. (see hearing notice for information on hearing). The TIF is the final and most critical piece of our public approvals as it provides the public financing necessary to move forward.
There are three ways you can show your support for CityMarket:
- If you would like to testify, contact Sarina Loy, Committee Assistant at (202) 724-8058 or sloy@dccouncil.us, and provide your name, organizational affiliation (if any), and title with the organization by the close of business on Monday, June 30, 2008.
- You can send a written support by e-mail to sloy@dccouncil.us or mailed to: Council of the District of Columbia; 1350 Pennsylvania Ave., N.W.; Suite 114; Washington D.C. 20004. Or
- You can attend the hearing on July 2
CityMarket at O from concept to today has taken five years. With your support every step along the way, the project now has the approval of the Zoning Commission, the Mayor’s Agent, and the Historic Preservation Review Board. We could not have gotten to this point without the support of the Shaw community, the D.C. government, and Councilmember Evans. You all have been tremendous!
Many thanks for all your efforts on behalf of CityMarket at O,
— Roadside Development
