Shop and Share for Emmaus
If you shop at Food Lion Grocery stores, Emmaus would like you to register your MVP card number at their Shop&Share web page. Each time your shop using your card, a portion of your grocery dollars will be donated back to Emmaus and serve very deserving local seniors. Proceeds from this venture will help to stock Emmaus' Feast for All Senior Market which provide free groceries to our seniors.
Comments, Pingbacks:
The nearest Food Lion appears to be in Upper Marlboro MD. Would be nice to see a partnership with an entity in Shaw, or even in (or near) DC.
There are a lot of people who still go to the burbs instead of walking a block (or a few) to stand in line for 30 min. to and hour at the (in Shaw) Giant — when only half of the registers are open. It's one reason why many people still keep their cars. I doubt the new Safeway will not have the same problems.
The CH Giant is pretty nice, a 5-10 minute drive, and has plenty of free parking. :)
Can you list any other nice things outside of Shaw that have been developed in less time than things planned for Shaw have materialized?
I can list other nice grocers that are closer than Upper Marboro. :)
Isn't there supposed to be a shuttle to the CH Giant while the Shaw Giant is under construction?

I'd like a shuttle to a nicer faster functioning Giant now.
Emmaus has a deal with who they have a deal with. I doubt they aimed for the grocery furthest away from their HQ and the seniors (many with mobility problems) they serve.

From the Emmaus Web site:
Whole Foods donates durable grocery bags each month that volunteers use to pack and deliver groceries to seniors.
