UPDATE from the WCCA in response to Martin's email request:
Will send a revised announcement to the WCCA community distribution list inviting the 2C community to attend a special "briefing" on the Hotel. ... I mistakenly said that a special "meeting" was requested in mid-June. Actually, in mid-June, Ms. Brooks was asked [by the WCCA] to announce the special briefing during the July 2nd ANC 2C meeting and invite 2C residents to attend.
Thanks for bringing your concerns to our attention. Truly sorry about the mix up. Hope to see you all soon.
— Theresa [DuBois, External Affairs Manager, WCCA]
NOTICE: I, as well as ANC 2C01 Commissioner Alex Padro, received an email notice from Theresa DuBois, External Affairs Manager of the Washington Convention Center Authority, announcing an ANC 2C Special Public Meeting. Both Commissioner Padro and I found this announcement strange because neither one of us had any knowledge of this meeting. During our last scheduled public meeting on July 2, the only announcement made by Commission Chairperson Doris Brooks was that there would be no August ANC meeting.
Commissioner Padro called Ms. DuBois to inquire about the meeting she announced. He was informed that Leroy Thorpe, executive assistant to Chairperson Brooks, arranged this meeting over a month and a half ago. Since neither Commissioner Padro, nor myself agreed to hold a special meeting nor did the Commissioners of ANC 2C ever discuss this, neither of us will be attending this meeting.
Since the meeting may proceed as announced, the details are provided. However, this meeting should not be considered an official ANC2C public meeting.

Comments, Pingbacks:
Commissioner Padro and I have no idea what stunt is trying to be pulled. Our failure to appear will deny a quorum and thereby the meeting will not be considered an official public ANC 2C meeting and the Commission will be unable to take any official actions.
Thanks for staying on top of all this ridiculous maneuvering...or whatever it is...
One question - do you and/or Alex ever talk to Jack E about stunts like this? And if so, what does he have to say about it?
As long as our Commission is holding meetings, Councilmember Evans chooses not to involve himself in the internal politics and operations of ANC 2C.
Promises Made, Promises Broken
Windy Abdul-Rahim Speaks to ANC2C
Jack tried to take over/scream everyone into submission at ANC 2C but ultimately walked away and left it to "parliamentarian" Leroy Thorpe - who is now his re-election campaign man in Shaw. Meanwhile our rights get trampled on every month because we are NOT represented by elected officials in 2C03 and 2C04. This latest stunt is just another example.
Vote.
That Windy is a scream. We usually don't hear a peep out of her.
Oscar! Oscar!
Mr Evans standing by and allowing this crap to continue for the last two years constitutes "involvement in ANC politics" whether he cares to admit it or not...and enough reason to vote for Cary on Sept 9th...
