Although the legislation for the $35M tax increment financing (TIF) package still needs to be approved by the DC Council, all major hurdles seem to have been cleared now that Roadside Development has received preliminary support for the financing from Mayor Fenty, Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans, At Large Councilmember Kwame Brown, and Neil Albert Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. This $260M project will bring the largest (71,000 sq ft) grocery store in the District to Shaw with . There are already retail tenants lined up for a few of the commercial units that will be a part of the project.
