Special Shaw Plant Sale

Wax leaf begonia (pink)The Historical Society of Washington (HSW) and the Wilson High School Crew Team are extending their annual plant sale fundraiser to Shaw residents. The sale offers a variety of single plants in large 4.5in pots for $2 each. Plants will be delivered to the Carnegie Library at Mt Vernon Place on April 25 by noon for same day pick up.

The HSW is providing this service in part to recruit extra hands to help them beautify the flower beds around the Carnegie Library on Friday, April 25.

This is a limited time offer, orders and payment must be submitted by Friday, March 28. (Sorry for the late notice this time, but we'll give more advance notice next time.) Minimum order for each plant is 3. The options include select colors of Ageratum, Alyssum, Wax Leaf Begonias, Coleus, Dusty Miller, Impatiens, Marigolds, Petunia, Salvia, Snapdragon and Vinca (minor).

As an added bonus, 50% of your purchase is tax deductible and your the charitable portion benefits the only public high school crew team in the District. Checks or money orders should be made payable to: "Wilson Crew Boosters" which is a 501(c)3.

Order forms can be downloaded here. Completed order forms and payment should be dropped off before 6pm on Friday, March 28 at the guard's desk at the Carnegie Library (on the north side of the building at Mt Vernon Place NW below the stairs).

Many of these plants are perfect for curbside tree boxes. They are selected because of their disease-resistance and developed to be tolerant of the local climate zone by one of the finest wholesale dealers in the area: Walnut Springs Nursery. Call 2/422-1161 for more information.
