The Passing of Springfield Baptist Church's Pastor

Pastor LB JonesWe sadly note that after more than 50 years of service, Pastor LB Jones (right), of the historic Springfield Baptist Church at 6th & P Streets NW, died Friday, February 22. There will be a memorial service and wake on Friday, February 29 from 3-7pm and a funeral service from 9am-12 noon Saturday, March 1. Both services will take place at the church and are open to anyone who would like to pay their respects.

The current Springfield Baptist Church structure was built in 1939 and replaced an earlier wood frame Lutheran church that was built on the site which was built before 1877.

The Family of Pastor Jones,

A great man of God who gave me good spiritual guidance; and my first pastor when I moved to DC metropolitan area 1981-1985. I always continued to listen to the Sunday night broadcast. He will be missed.
