The separation of church and state
Why do church officials have the authority to dictate how public goverment meetings should be conducted in defiance of public opinion? It counters the doctrine that reasonably advocates separating the church from the state. It particularly smacks of corruption when such a church has financial stakes in empowering the current ANC2C Chair, who is a member of the church, when it comes to the church’s proposals to obtain access to purchase public property for private ownership and the potential profits that ownership carries.
ANC[2C] voted 3-1 [In Favor: Commissioners Brooks, Thorpe and Curtis; Against: Commissioner Padro] to support the transfer of a park on the 600 block of N Street NW (south side) to United House of Prayer. Brenda Hall, property manager for UHOP, stated that they do not have any final plans for the space.
